O CMIA é um equipamento municipal com a coordenação científico-técnica do Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental (CIIMAR) da Universidade do Porto que pretende contribuir para o desenvolvimento de ações de sensibilização e educação ambiental e monitorização de diversos descritores ambientais.
